About Me

Life for me really started at the age of 25. Up until then I was not doing well due to one bad choice after another. I did not dare to hope that I was going to live very long. If I somehow lived beyond my 20’s I could not visualize a successful life. On November 1st of 1993 I got down on my knees and prayed to a God that I was not sure was there or would listen. After all, when I am living badly, why should I expect a cry for help to be answered? My plea for help was answered in a way I could have never imagined.
I was healed that night from a crippling, daily addiction to anything and everything that would change the way I felt. Before then I had tried to stop or control my intake but it was always without success. A few days or a week but soon enough I was overdoing it again. That lifestyle took me further than I wanted to go. It made me stay longer than I wanted to stay. It made me pay more than I wanted to pay. Regarding the “pay” factor, I am not just referring to money. I lost the people that were important to me. I lost my dignity and self worth. The cost was very high.
My new life without chemicals turned from days to weeks to months to years. Along the way through fearless and thorough self-examination I faced all the stuff that made me who I was. I took a deep dive going all the way back to age 6 when my parents divorced. I unpacked it all. With my clear head and my new heart this journey of self-examination gave me something I never thought possible: peace. To be at peace with God and the people around me and to be at peace with myself is such a gift.
Along the way I met and married the love of my life in 1996. We are blessed with children and grandchildren. My extended family on my wife’s side are great and loving people. My parents have moved on to their eternity. I have 3 brothers whom I love and admire. The relationships I have with my family and extended family are only possible because I asked for help.
My calling is to help the next man who needs to see there is another way to live. To help the next man understand his worth is the fact that he is an image bearer of his creator. To help the next man face his traumas. The best predictor of your future is your past if you are not willing to change. God loves you and will bring that change if you will seek Him.
